"Gemaal Sheik Charrief. One of the most dangerous warlords in the country."
Ryan debriefs Jodie.

Gemaal Sheik Charrief is a character in Beyond: Two Souls.

Character Information

Charrief is the intended target during the chapter, The Mission, in which Jodie Holmes, working for the CIA, must infiltrate his compound in Somalia and assassinate him.

With the help from an indigenous child guerrilla, Jodie successfully gains access to Charrief's secluded enclosure. While possessing a random soldier, Aiden indiscriminately massacres everyone inside, killing the man he had controlled soon afterward. Jodie enters to confirm Charrief is dead, but before she can call for extraction, the boy who had since accompanied her spots the man Aiden had used and immediately mourns for him. The deceased man was apparently his father; his death prompts the child to turn against Jodie, exclaiming his hatred for her. Jodie attempts to comfort him, but leaves after failing.

The citizens of the city are instantaneously aware of Charrief's assassination, as they hunt Jodie down before she is picked up by Ryan and other CIA agents. On the ride home, a news story about Charrief plays. While initially thought to be a heinous warlord, whose militia held the entirety of the city under martial law, Charrief was in fact the democratically elected president, and the country's only hope for peace and prosperity. Jodie is disgusted with Ryan for forcing her to kill an innocent, an accusation which he deflects.

The revelation was apparently the last straw for Jodie, as she jumps from the helicopter and defects from the whole of the CIA.

Trivia
